Sharebuilder Promo FAQs
What is Sharebuilder?
Sharebuilder is an online stock broker. They allow you to buy and sell stocks online, and at some of the lowest fees available.
How do I know this company is legit?
Sharebuilder has been around since 1996, and has received a lot of awards and recommendations for its services. See them at this link.
Why would they give out cash promotions like this?
Stock brokerages like Sharebuilder spend a lot of money trying to get new accounts, often several hundred dollars per new account. Rather than buy Superbowl commercials, run ad blitzes, and engage in mass mailings, Sharebuilder goes with a little more low-key approach, offering customers cash that would have otherwise resulted in a glossy mailing you probably would have thrown out.
Can I open more than one account?
Yes! However, there are some important rules to follow. For best results, wait until your first account's promotion to clear, or in other words, wait for the first promo's cash to be in your account. You can wait as little as a couple weeks before opening another account, but its best to wait longer. When opening another one, select "No" for the question "Do you have another Sharebuilder account?" Also, do not reuse the promo codes; always select a new promo code for each account. If you do open, say, 6 accounts in an afternoon, Sharebuilder will take notice and cancel all but one of your accounts, and you will be blocked out of all future promotional payouts.
Why do I need to fill out so much personal information?
All of this information is required by federal law. Everytime you open a new account with a bank or other financial institution like Sharebuilder, all that information is required for IRS purposes (the bonus is considered taxable interest), for securities purposes, to help locate money-laundering schemes, and prevent transfers of money to terrorists or terrorist states.
Is Sharebuilder's site secure?
Yes, Sharebuilder uses up to 128-bit encryption, and does not sell customer information. For more information, click here.
Why am I having trouble accessing my account?
Sharebuilder's page doesn't work well with the Firefox browser. You'll have to use IE to access your account page. If this doesn't solve the problem, try contacting Sharebuilder through their customer support.
